This year again we are committed to support homeless peopleby a good number of sheltersuits donated for the ones in need living in Berlin and Germany.

Endorsing our collective mindset we are happy to say that we have been made ambassador of the ngo shelter­suit. It is their mission to put gross effort into helping homeless people around the globe which makes us feel grateful to be a part of that profound a project.

WHAT IS SHELTERSUIT?

THE SHELTERSUIT FOR COLD WINTERS.

The Sheltersuit is a wind and waterproof jacket with an optional sleeping bag attachment to provide immediate shelter. The Sheltersuit consist of a jacket, sleeping bag and a duffel bag. The jacket is made from high-quality, breathable tent-fabric.

The inner lining is made from upcycled sleeping bags, making each Sheltersuit unique. The large hood shields the face from rain and streetlights, and contains an integrated scarf.

THE STORY BEHIND SHELTERSUIT

In the midst of his fashion studies, Bas Timmer received some news that shook him. The father of his friend passed away while sleeping outside.

He looked at his own jacket designs, merged some materials of an old sleeping bag and a tent, and made a jacket to become a sleeping bag – this is what would become the Sheltersuit.

He took it to a shelter and approached a man sleeping near the shelter, offering him the suit. The man asked if he could share it with two friends. Bas promised to return with more. After gathering the resources and donations required, Sheltersuit produced first 100 products.

8 years in, Sheltersuit exists in The Netherlands, South Africa and the United States. Today Sheltersuit is an impactful product in itself, and goes beyond the possibility of providing warmth, comfort and dignity.
